Chefs west African road Trip

23,000 kms through 18 countries over 82 days…. One man and his van.

The budget for this trip is slightly more than the European one, because of added costs like vaccinations, medicines, vitamins, video camera, equipment, visas, road taxes and relevant bits a bobs, which weights in at €5,600.00, leaving €5.00 a day for food and drinks etc. By far a tougher trip than the previous one and from my research, have learned that this is considered to be the hardest road trip on the planet for all sorts of reasons which I’m sure I will find out for myself and share with you as the trip unfolds….. so I guess it’s the Holy Grail of the road trips, and one I’m very excited about getting under way…. Leaving Dublin on the 29th of January 2010, returning April 22nd.

A very big part of this trip is to help raise funds and awareness of the amazing work of Irish charity Goal are doing in Freetown Sierra Leone. I aim to meet up with the workers their and stay a few days and capture their efforts on film and photo. Their is a link on this page which will give you more information about their different projects and how you can donate by phone or through their website.
